Starr Hoffman

Spring 2007

This is an in-progress project for an eventual online finding aid. I'm saving notes here that will later be inserted into catalog records for these books.

Europe: a prophecy. Lambeth, Printed by Will: Blake, 1794.

"The publication of this fasimilie of William Blake's EUROPE: A PROPHECY was made possible by the generosity of Mrs. Landon Thorne and Lord Cunliffe, who lent the two original volumes from which the plates were selected for reproduction.

This edition consists of 526 copies, printed on Arches pure rag paper made to match the paper used by Blake. Each leaf is watermarked with Blake's monogram.

"The publication of this facsimile of William Blake's THE BOOK OF AHANIA was made possible by the generosity of Mr. Lessing J. Rosenwald and the Library of Congress, who lent the only complete copy in existence of the title-page and text, and of Sir. Geoffrey Keynes, who lent the frontispiece originally belonging to this volume, thus enabling the book as conceived by Blaketo be reunited in this facsimile.

The edition consists of 808 copies, printed on Arches pure rag paper made to match the paper used by Blake.

32 copies numbered I to XXXII, bound in full leather morocco, and each containing a set of plates shewing the progressive stages of the collotype and hand-stencil process and a guide-sheet and stencil.
