There are no general statements in maps.

Discovering Maps
- start with OPAC
- use "map" as keyword (link to search)
- use indexes for topos
- use map card catalog (light wood)
- first section = mostly discarded topos (non-bordering states)
- second section = topos (mostly TX)
- third section = author/title/subject (other maps)
- not all maps may be included
- some may have been moved upstairs to Texana Collection
- some of these cards are marked as moved, some not
- most things in Texana Collection will appear in OPAC as such
- use GovDocs card catalog (black)
- look under subject for "map"
- not likely to have many maps here
A Guide to Maps
- TX land-grant maps
- many are in OPAC
- county maps
Topos
- Texas and bordering states
- filed by first state on the quadrangle label
- "Alexandria, Louisianna; Texas" is filed under Louisianna
- filed alphabetically by quadrangle title
- finding aid is in box on back wall, to the right (middle shelf)
- indexes for each state
- locate quadrangle needed; checkmark generally indicates that we have it

NASA Photos / Other
CIA Maps
Vertical File
- black cabinets
- missing pages
- each color = significant
- Andrea is making a filing/finding guide (posted on drawer front)
Country Maps
- filed by country first (roughly but not wholly alphabetical)
- no rule for filing within a country
Map Reference
