Filing Problems in A&I

• missing pages file is confusing
  • not in call # order
• things are being moved
• missing pages file will stay the same, but...
• ...Andrea will make a filing/finding guide to post on the front of the drawer

Reshelving Problems in Map Room

• similar issues
• holds (area over topos) need a note / hold slip with a name and date
• items we should reshelve:
  • CIA / unnumbered / reserve / TxDoc maps
• Erica will make reshelving sign
  • perhaps post with desk training info and/or in map room

Discussion About Redesign

• subjects/topical organization
  • several of us prefer topical organization instead of divided by govt. level or agency
  • perhaps increase our local information
  • will we delete any of our current topics and/or add any others?
  • would like to keep the A-Z subject list
    • enlarge the link to this, or put on side of page
  • perhaps put all topics on the front page
    • is this too much?
• layout issues...
  • Clarice likes the current clean/simple design
  • Erica likes the subject page
  • would like more information about our physical department
    • circ policies
    • hours, phone # more visible (top-level?)
    • more about our dept. itself (not just our history)
  • do we still want a search form on our page?
    • Betty had reservations about the # of results produced (including TX Register, CyberCemetery, ACIR)
    • it's better than it used to be
    • we don't use it much, but are users using it?
  • may be able to have different colors than the other library webpages (i.e., keep red/blue theme), but graphically/layout-wise will conform to the library CMS

Conclusions

• website redesign: we're in favor of reorganizing and relabeling content, not as interested in changing new/old content
• next week: look website information over and form ideas for the MMDL meeting (8/30, 1-3pm, Rm. 352)
• Valerie will re-send the position description for our review
